Kitchen tickets and order flow

How tickets arrive from POS, QR, or marketplace, how statuses move, and how KDS helps the line.

Where tickets come from

The kitchen sees one stream of work whether the guest ordered at the counter, from a table QR, or through the Foodma marketplace. Each path creates a ticket the line can act on.

  1. Foodpos counter / table — cashier or waiter sends items from the POS ticket.
  2. QR / digital menu — guest places the order; it appears alongside walk-in tickets.
  3. Marketplace — vendor mobile or portal accepts the order; kitchen prep follows the same status idea.

Status flow

  1. Pending / new — order received; cooking has not started.
  2. Preparing / cooking — the line is working the ticket.
  3. Ready — food is ready for pickup, runner, or delivery handoff.
  4. Completed / delivered — guest has received the order.
  5. Cancelled — stopped before completion; stock rules depend on whether cooking had started.

Kitchen display (KDS)

A kitchen display shows live tickets so cooks are not limited to paper slips. Keep it on the same restaurant account and network as the counter.

  1. Sign the KDS device into the restaurant account.
  2. Bump or advance tickets as items finish so runners see accurate readiness.
  3. If a ticket stalls, check network connectivity before restarting the app.

Keep the floor calm

  1. Update status promptly so guests and marketplace customers see realistic ETAs.
  2. If you anticipate a delay, update the order or notify the guest before they chase the ticket.
  3. Align naming: the same status words on POS, KDS, and mobile reduce handoff mistakes.
